IS PCI-E 2.0 and PCI-Express the same thing? With that said, can my PC run "EVGA GT220 Video Card 1GB NVIDIA"?

EVGA GT220 Video Card 1GB NVIDIA Graphic DVI HDMI PCIe

So is the pci express 2.0 x16 and pci express the same thing? I currently have a dell dimension e520 and I am getting that graphics card - i have 305 PSU.

Thanks.|||PCI-E 2.0 and PCI-Express are the same thing.basically you say PCI-Ex16 2.0 where 2.0 stands for the version of PCI-E. PCI-E slot available in following types.

PCI-E x1

PCI-E x2

PCI-E x4

PCI-E x8

PCI-E x16

PCI-E x32

to put it simple, all latest graphics cards are using PCI-E x16 2.0 slot.here x16 is width of the PCI-E slot..so if your motherboard have

PCI-E x16 1.0 or 1.1 slot then also every PCI-E x16 2.0 card will work with your computer.this is due to the backward compatibility.most motherboards have PCI-E x16 slot so I guess you also have and so that GT 220 will work with your system.remember that 1.0,2.0 and 1.1 are versions of PCI-E they are not different.

I hope you understand.anyway, don't go with GT 220.instead of that go with ATI Radeon HD 4670

which gives more performance than GT220 and prices are same.as I said, that card will also work with your computer.|||No pci express is a general term for any type of pci. You have to look if both are x16.
