is it a good idea? is there a card that is better than gt220 but has the same price or cheaper? i dont wanna end up buying a card that sucks..|||Much faster ATI HD 5670 is currently only $64, better get that.|||The GT 220 is noticeably better than your x1650 (unless you have the x1650 XT model, in which case the GT 220 is just slightly better).
If your budget for a graphic card is < $50, you simply aren't going to get much better than the GT 220. The Radeon HD 5670 is a pretty good entry level video card, but it's closer to $85.
